October is LD Awareness Month!
Throughout October, the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario will be marking LD Awareness month with community events. This month, the focus is on raising awareness and reducing stigma to allow people with Learning Disabilities to get the supports they need to reach their full potential. The LDAO’s hope is to see Ontario as the leader in eliminating the barriers stigma creates.
The Learning Disabilities Association of York Region (LDAYR) has created an exciting initiative called The Voices of LDAYR Project in order to promote the education of learning disabilities by engaging with individuals and the community. A team of Champions share their personal stories of success, their journeys to overcome obstacles and speak on behalf of youth and their families to increase awareness and knowledge surrounding what it means to learn differently.
